Happy 4th of July to y'all!! Hope you had a wonderful day celebrating along with our country, our freedom and independance, and remembering the men who fought to give us that Freedom and Liberty.

My family went to the Independance day parade in Steelville this morning. We had had plans to haul the horses over there to ride with the parade but unfortunatly we discovered that the brake lights konked out on us so we couldn't do that like we had planned. So we just hung out over there all morning, saw a TON of people we knew like i think we saw about EVERYBODY we know! *lol* not really =) It seemed like it though because it seemed every time you would look up it would be like " Oh hi! haven't seen you in a while," or, "Hey! How've ya been?" etc.........it was absoloutly insaine....Anyways.......

After we made it home fro the parade we went over to some friends house who we know from church. They had invited us over for a cook out and fireworks. Their dad also read off the Declaration of Independance and we had a time just to discuss it and think about how things have changed over the years and how some of our freedom is slowly being snatched away from us through some phony government leaders that have come to office, and we also prayed for God to guide our leaders into making wise dissisions for our country. I'm afraid our country needs prayer at this time.
Then after we ate the guys lit off a bunch of firecrackers. It was cool.... =)We were there until like...10 i think. Then we had to drive home it was like over an hour drive home...now i'm so exausted!! *lol*
i better wrap this thing up though now so Adios !!
God Bless AMERICA!!!!!

4-H's fun show was this afternoon (about 1 o'clock). I wasn't sure if we would get to ride or not because it poured the rain all day yesterday and last night and a bit this morning. So,we were undecided as to wether or not it might have been canceled or if we should just go for the heck of it. Well, we went anyways at about 11 this morning and the arena was a little on the muddier side of life*lol* So Nicole (our co-leader) moved us all over to the indoor arena which was rather small so we didn't any barrel racing or poles so that sucked. but it would have been risky to do it in such a small area or in the mud for that matter.
It (the show) was rather uneventful,(i thought it was sorta boring...) everybody was just moping around and being such wet blankets and it was all rather dull. The only action that happened was during western pleasure when my horse Gunner started bucking like really doing the big sha-bang where all 4 went off the ground at once! it was hilarios!!! =) i spun his head around at kicked him up again and he chilled out a bit after he got that outta him. I think we needed that bit of excitment to liven the group!!
The pics from today that i took turned out pretty crappy so i'll skip the bother of uploading them.

Happy Trails!!

Good morning! hope your friday finds ya well and in good spirits=)
my weekend is looking really full so far. Tonight we have a 4-h softball game,it rained all night so we'll have to see if they are still playing or not because if the ball diamond is muddy then they won't have a game. Tomorrow i have a horse show. Not a big one, its just a fun show or playday or whatever you want to call it. Again it might be canceled because of the rain, but i'm really hoping it wont be.
Sunday is my dads birthday so after church we're going to go to Giant city or Little Grand Canyon or somewhere like that to go hiking and walk some trails.
My aunt is here visiting us for the weekend too!! She got here last night for my sisters birthday and is staying through sunday. we've had fun visiting and some playing ball out in the back field. My sister becca and my aunt camped outside in a tent lastnight but i'm afraid they got a little bit wet with all the rain we had*lol* But they said that they had fun anyways=) i better go since i only have time for a quick post so adios!!

Emilee's party went great Saturday, the only thing that went wrong was the weather....rain. It was beautiful all day then suddenly it just started POURING the rain down at about 3:40ish. So we had to grab up everything that was set out on tables in the yard so it wouldn't get soaked. Cameras,plates,napkins,food...yeah...all that had to get hauled back in to the kitchen, but it all worked out just fine. We set up the tables up against a wall in the kitchen and set out the food and sodas on that. When everybody came we just played some card games like moffia and spoons. We did play a some volleyball after the rain quit even though the grass was awful wet. After it got dark Colt and Justin got out their guitars and went outside to the back steps and played some songs.

Some pics from the party.....

#1. Table with the food and drinks that we set up in the kitchen.

#2. Everyone out playing volleyball.

Is God real...?

One day a buisinessman was sitting in the local barber shop getting his hair cut. He and the barber chatted away about weather, life, love and the economy. Soon however the conversation turned to God and religion.
"There is no way that God can exist!" The barber argued. "If God was real, than tell me, how could any God could allow things to happen to good people." He paused before continuing.
"Why would a God allow little innocent children to be in hospitals dieing of cancer, or families to be starving all across the world, or being blown up in their homes during war! Their is no way a caring and loving God can exist!"
"But He does!" The man said.
"You can't prove that he is there" The barber persisted.
The man wasn't sure how he could explain to this man that God was there, and that He did care for his children. He felt trapped, yet wishing he could help this man to see the truth.
After attempting to expain things yet again to the barber, and seeing that it was futile to argue further, he paid the man and left, feling more discouraged than ever as he stepped out into the warm morning air.
"All things point to a creator" The man thought to himself as he looked up into the clear blue sky and trees blowing freely in the morning air. "If only their was a way to help him to see the truth"
The man thought, then offered a silent prayer.
"Lord," He prayed. "Help him to understand you are real and that you truly are a loving God who cares for the needs of His chilren"
After walking a ways down the sidewalks just outside the barber shop crowded with buisiness men and women too busy to notice him or anyone else, he spotted a hobo standing off to the side just watching the hustling and bustling rush of morning.
He was older gentleman dressed in ragged clothes, his brown hair hung long and dirty against his clothing.
The man stopped and watched the hobo for a moment while time seemed to stand still. Suddenly it became clear to him.
Here was this hobo, dirty and ragged, and hair uncut. Yet right over their not more than 10 yards away was the barber shop where the man had just has the discussion with the barber about whether or not God existed. And then right next door to the barber shop was a men clothing store.
It all became clear, here was a man standing there dirty and unkept, if only he would step into the barber shop, he could get his hair and beard shaved and cleaned, then he could go over to the mens clothing store and get a new set of clean fresh set of a shirt and some pants.
He then could step back outside to the street and be a new man, no longer a dirty scruffy man looking like a hobo or an unkept bum.
"That," the man said outloud. "Is just like God,"
"When a sinner comes to Jesus, dirty and rotten in his own filthy sins, Jesus can take him into himself and make his soul clean again and wash him white as snow, and he will become one of Gods own children."
"All you have to do is come unto him."
It was at that moment the man knew what he had to do.
Suddenly the man turned back and hurried the short distance back to the barber. Upon entering, the man found the barber busily standing over a customer, his scissors making a neat clean cut, hair falling to the floor, leaving a fresh new hair cut.
The barber turned opon his entering and noticed it was the same man whom he had talked to only a short while ago.
"Barbers do not exist." The man said with a smile.
Before the barber could say anything in return, the man began. "You say there is no God, you say there can't be a loving caring God while men, women and children suffer and die every day in the world."
The barber stopped and nodded. "That is what i said yes, and thats what i believe, because you can't prove to me God cares."
"Barbers can't exist," the man continued.
The man gently took the barbers arm and led him over to the store front windows looking out across the street.
"You see that old man standing there? The one with dirty long hair, unkept and uncut," The man pointed out.
"What of him," The barber asked. "He's just another old bum"
"Exactly!" The man explained "He is just another old bum isn't he? Dirty and ragged, his hair long and uncut."
The barber only nodded.
"That man, that old hobo, is just like everyone else, dirty and living in their sins. If that old hobo would only come in here to you, you could give him a good haircut. You could wash that old messy, matted dirty mess of hair, You could shave his beard and he would look like a new man.
His hair would then look and be clean and kept.
"Now, i still say that barbers don't exist, if they did than that man wouldn't be standin out there with his hair hanging long and dirty and his beard uncut and a tangled mess"
The barber thought about this for a minute.
"If that man would come in here to your barber shop, not 10 yards from where he stands, than you could clean him up and help him become new."
"Now if that man can come to you and get all clean and new, doesn't that seem that sinners too could come to a loving, caring God and He could make them new again and wash their sins away. All they have to do is make that choice to come unto Him."
The barber then saw that all men have a choice to make. All men have to do is to make the choice to come unto him and become one of his children. If they don't come to Him how could they become clean?
If they come, Jesus will wash them clean and new.
"I think I understand now" the barber said. "He really is there isn't He? Waiting for us to come to Him. God is real......

I just got this in an email a minute ago and thought it was hilarious!!!!

A Department of Water representative stopped at a ranch and talked with an old rancher. He told the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for your water allocation."The old rancher said, "Okay, but don't go in that field over there." The Water representative said, "Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me. See this card? The card means I am allowed to go WHEREVER I WISH on any agricultural land. No questions asked or answered. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?" The old rancher nodded politely and went about his chores. Later, the old rancher heard loud screams and saw the Water Rep running for the fence..... and close behind was the rancher's bull. The bull was gaining on the Water Rep with every step. The Rep was clearly terrified...... so the old rancher immediately threw down his tools, ran to the fence and shouted out..... "Your card! Your card! Show him your card!"

Y'all have an awsome rest of your weekend!!

This cracked me up!!

Will Rogers, who died in a plane crash with Wylie Post in 1935, was probably the greatest political sage this country has ever known. Enjoy the following:

1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.

2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman...neither works.

4. Never miss a good chance to just shut up.

5. Always drink upstream from the herd.

6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.s

8. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

9. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there.

10. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.

Happy wednesday! I think a more appropriate picture for today would have been a picture of all of the kittens we have right now in our barn! I think we have 12 of 'em right now....kitten anyone?? :)

They're cute enough..now..while they're still small...but then picture all those kittens as cats who will have more kittens...AhhH! Not a good thought. So if anyone wants a kitten or even if you think that you MIGHT want a kitten...well...you'll know where to find some!

Last night we went to a 4-H meeting, yes, another one...This one is the main group that we're all in, then i'm in a different one also for the horses, since it's a Horse Club its separate from the main one...it's sorta confusing. Anyways, we had the meeting last night. I was really tired but i went anyways. We were having the meeting in the Eden pavillian area since June is Natinal Dairy Month and we always do somthing at the June meeting every year for that. So this yeat my friend Hannah's family brought 4 gallons of home-made ice cream to the meeting. Yeah...pretty sweet.:) So what i was dog tired...I won't complain!! It was some pretty good ice cream too. My brother and his friend Jonathon both cranked the ice cream makers right after the meeting was over since they had to make it there so it wouldn't melt. Its been really hot here the past week. What i really want right now is to go swimming!! Ah....i wish:)

Okay. It was definatly time for my blog page to get a bright and cheery summer facelift! Blue looks about right...and since its my favorate color i suppose it'll do:)

Had another fun game last night! Our team won ...(of course) big time...It was a good game, well what i saw of it. Me and Hannah went to the horse club meeting and were there for a little while. It was rather boring though, as always,so we headed over to the game at about 7:30. Actually the little clock hanging on the wall in the fair office where the meeting was said it was 7:30 when we left, then we looked at the clock in the car when we got to the game and it said it was still 7:30! We decided that the wall clock at the fair office was slow.

Nothing exciting happened at the meeting at all. I'm sorta burned out on the club right now, it is really at a stand still and nothing is getting planned or trail rides scheduled or anything. Lots of stuff gets talked about but it doesn't ever go much farther beyond that. We have a new co-leader who started this summer. I met her for the first time last night and i like her. She has alot of good ideas for the club so maybe things will start looking up over the summer. I sure do hope so....

Today was a very productful (sp?) day. Well in my opinion it was. I got up at 6ish this morning and spent some time reading...are you ready for this...are you sure....??? Okay it was Black Stallion's Courage. SerIous, i haven't read the Black Stallion series since i was about 14 or so. I really love those books with a passion...go ahead laugh at me....everyone else does...but i like old horse stories like Walter Farley books. They are thrilling. Everytime i read them i feel like i'm living in a different world with the jocks and trainer who live and breathe horses and racing and training. I'm not to big on racing, Oh i like it fine alright, and i LoooVE watching it every year at the county fairs and at state fair in August, but what i really truely love is the bond and relationship between the horses and riders like Alec and the Black. My favorate book from the series is the Black Stallion and Satan. That one is awsome. Oh and the Son of the Black Stallion is my second favorate. Satan is an amazing horse (i know he's not real but..well...ya know...;) I'm in the middle of the Black Stallions Courage right now. Read a little in it a couple of hours ago, before i had to go to town. Haha! Yeah....

Me and my sis went to town to get the dogs shots done and run some errands (and get some two liters of soda for tonight!!!:) post office, return a movie and some odd stuff like that, and haha the vet wasn't in his office today. ha! So we go again tomorrow, but we have to take them to Carbondale instead cause mom found this one-day vet clinic they are having.

Poor little Brandi, the pup we have, has to get dropped off at the animal clinic/pound thing too. Well its not really a pound, its like a no killl animila shelter where we always take animial we have to get rid of. (they have seen more of cats of ours than i can probably count) But we can't keep him and we can't seem to be able to find a good home for him so he has to go....poor ol' Brandi-Boy....

Oh well...such is life out here in the country, where ya just can't keep every single critter that gets borned here. The price of feed is so high right now, as a matter of fact EVERYTHING is just so DANG EXPENSIVE right now it's just INSANE!!!! Don't get me started...believe me...you don't want to get me going.
Okay on to other things....as i was saying today felt very productive which just puts a person in a good mood. I baked 2 cherry pies this morning. They turned out looking good enough to eat if i do say so myself.:) I also got 2 banana breads baked and a batch of cookies. After all that baking in a hot kitchen though, i was feeling like shutting myself up in the freezer!! The thermometer said that it was about 102 degrees, but it was smack dab in the sun so it probably wasn't really that hot.
Okay i believe it is time for me to bid you farewell...Hope you have a very blessed weekend!

Softball!

4-H softball has officially began! I always have fun going to the games over the summer, they are always (we'll most of 'em anyways) are a blast!
i took a couple of pics with my cell phone but i need to text them to my email still. the picture here is from the year end photo from last year.
(Colt is the second from the left on the back row, and Becca is in the middleof the front row, between the two boys.)

I don't play anymore, but my brothers Colt, and Bret do and my sis becca all play.

First game was last night at 6:30. Well the jrs. game starts at 6:30, then the seniors play after the jrs. finnish up their game, usually about 8. We had a good time last night and the team played great. unfortunatly the jrs. lost their game i still think they did great and played their best and thats what counts anyways. but my brother Colt plays on the senior team and they won their game. . now that softball has began it is really starting to feel like summer!!! 4-H shows will be here before i know it and things'll start to get busy, busy, busy again. We didn't get home until around 11:30 because we got to take one of my friends home first. her family left after the jrs. game but she really wanted to stay to watch the seniors play their game, so we said we could take her back on our way home. we had a lot of fun:) Tomorrow when they play their next game, but i have to go to a thing for my horse club 'Outback riders' so i problably will have to miss the jrs. game.
Have a good one!
Happy Trails!!

--I is bored.
I would be out riding right now, except i can't because i have to leave the house to go and babysit in likkke......(turns around to look at the clock)....exactly an hour. And it wouldn't be such a grand idea to get all dusty and sweaty and dirty before going to baby sit now would it. nope.i think not.
Ho hum, i hate the thought of just sitting around for an hour.
Well, tomorrow is a horse show, first one of the year actually. The Annual Memorial Day show for the Randolph County Saddle Club is what they call it. I always have mixed feelings about shows, the butterflies always get me the day before the shows (and sometimes when i first see the arena full of horses and riders who are just like WaAAayYY better than i am, but then i just try to relax and just have fun with my horse, not worry about who wins the class or whatever, and i usually have my nerves back in proper working order by the time i enter the ring. usually.Which is good of course. Calmed nerves are always a good thing to have when you're trying to just sit back and ride.
I should be out practicing, i wish i could be....really really wish i could be.Oh well,i still have all morning tomorrow and at least an hour that i could squeezze in before i have to leave. I still have to iron my show shirt,in fact i still have to find my show shirt.
Okay well it looks like i have some searching to go do.

The Beauty And Loyalty Of The Horse

I thought this was really beautiful...

Wishing y'all a Happy Mothers day! (yes, i know its wednesday, but hope you had a good one all the same:)
Even if you girls arn't a mom,(yet:) i hope you spent a wonderful Mothers Day just letting your mama know how much ya love and appreciate her and everything she does.
Sunday night i was reading the local paper (now thats odd kailee...:) and i came across a little do-dad section, added special for Mothers Day. It was about moms called 'Why God Made Moms.
A 2nd grade teacher at the local school asked these questions to her kids and then she published some of the answers she got. The results are great!! Here are some of my favorites-

Why did God make mothers?
1. Shes the only one who knows where the scotch tape is (this is my fav.)
2.To help us out when we were gettin' borned. :)

How did God make mothers?
1.He used dirt, just like the rest of us.
2.He breathed some of his special breath on some of that dirt to make it some really special dirt and made my mom outta that.

What are Mothers made out of?
1.Angel hairs and clouds is what God used to make MY mom, well every thing nice in the world really but then just one dab of mean.

Why did God give you your mom and not just some other kids mom?
1. 'Cause God knew she liked me a whole lot. More than any other mom can like me.

What did your mom need to know about your dad before she married him?
1.Well, about the kinda guy he is, like is he a crook, or does he get drunk on beer, or if he says NO! to drugs and YES! to all them chores!
2. If he makes at least $800 dollars every month to help pay for food and stuff for all the kids she wants to have.

What makes your Mom and Dad different/
1. Moms work at work AND at home all day long, even on weekends and dad just goes to his job from 7-3 on week days.
2.Dads are the tough guys, but mama's have a little some of that plus all the special hugs and kisses that make things all better.

What does your Mom do on her spare time?
1.My mom never has any of that.
2.To hear her tell it, She pays bills all day long.

If you could change one thing about your Mom what would it be?
1. I would make her get rid of those eyes in the back of her head, even i cant see them they sure are there!!
2.She has this weird thing that always tells me to keep my room clean and eat my vegetables. yeah- i think i would make her get rid of that!!
3.I'd make my mom just a tiny bit smarter, so she KNOWS MY SISTER DID IT AND NOT ME!!
4. Nothing, i think my mom's just about perfect the way she is.

Don't ya just love kid's honesty? Yeah, I bet. Anyways i thought some of those were just down-right cute and thought i would share some of them. (there were a whole lot more-believe me!!)
So, Even though mothers day is past us now, go give your Mama a hug and just tell her that ya love her and everything she does for you day in and day out, with out complaining about all the extra work that you make for her. (Well at least that I know I make for my mom:)

Happy Trails you guys!!

Figured it was about time for an update on the horse we brought home last monday. She's doing amazingly well, and really seems to have settled in good. She is getting stronger not only physically but she seems happy to be here too.
Name is still to be decided, my sis cant seem to make up her mind on choosing naming her. but its okay, it will come eventually.
Monday i spend the whole day working on the new corral i'm building for training horses. I got myself in a pickle though, and found out quite by accident that i'm not quite strong enough to use the post-pounder, and couldn't get it back off the post after i had pounded it in to the ground! That set me back some because i had to wait until my dad came to pick me up with the truck at 7 and get it off for me. I spent some of the time riding for about 3 or 4 hours while i waited. It was so quiet all day, alone with no one but God and Nature to talk to and keep me company. And the horses and cattle of course.
I spent alot of time just thinking about life, and such things, as i was riding across the wide spaces, and thought how much God loves us to have given us all of the beautiful green earth as our own, yet how small i felt among the trees in the woods and against the wide open sky. He made it all for us to enjoy, and life in. To be honest i could spend the rest of my days just in the great outdoors, and alone with nature, somehow it seems just to call out to me and i cant get enough of it. i don't know, its hard to put into words you know?
Its like some things you can't express yet you know in your mind how it is and what you feel.
I don't know if you can understand what i'm trying to say here, i guess i'm just laying out my thoughts on the keyboard. I just enjoy all that God made for us to enjoy. From the birds to trees, to wind and the rain. most of all though horses i guess, but all things really.
God was so creative when he made flowers, millions of different species, and every one unique and beautiful in its own way. Its amazing.
How does the verse in the bible go? "...the heavens declare the glory of God.." I can't remember off the top of my head how the verse goes, but basicly saying that his creations are the expressions of God himself and that the declare his glory. Cool huh? I think so...

Happy Trails,

HorseLover

Update on mare...

Everything went really good last night! We had no problem loading her up into our trailer, and things went as good as could be expected at the farriers. Her hooves are still needing a ton of work, but she is more comftable, and can walk a little better already. We are so thankful she is home now, and doing well!
She hasn't been named yet, but that can wait. She is such a sweet girl, and wants loved on all the time. Believe me, she gets plenty of attention even in the short time she's been here, and she's loving every minute of it! :)

Okay, her are a few pictures of her.
Eating her hay.
She is blind in one eye.
Her hoof before the trimming. Her other front foot was getting worked on by the farrier when the picture was taken.Notice how her she's standing with her toe tiped up....now picture that on all 4 legs.
Will post more later!!!
Happy Trails and God Bless!

Here is a sad story that happened to my family yesterday after church. It is sad but it will hopefully have a happy ending to it. You'll see what i mean in a minute...

We got home from church at about two o'clock yesterday afternoon, and decided we would drive down to the horse pasture and go riding for the rest of the day, like we usually do on Sundays. So we loaded up the 'gear', (saddlles, bridles etc.)and drove the 15 minutes it takes to get down there. My dad got out to unlock the gate, and we looked down the fenceline that runs parallel to the neighbors cow pasture, and we saw a horse. Just standing there by the fence looking over. At a distance it looked like one of our horses might have gotten out and somehow gotten into the neighbors cow pasture. So when dad got back in, we drove up and, even from a distance we saw that it wasn't one of ours. We counted just to be safe and all our horses were still in our side of the pasture fence, safe and sound. We figured the neighbor just got a horse too, since we never had seen it before.

A little while later i was tacking up my horse in the barn, getting ready to ride him, when my mom comes running in! She said she had walked over to look at the horse across the fence and had looked down and saw his feet!! She said his hooves were so long, and so overgrown it looked like he was walking on industrial size aluminum cans!! She said he was so lame he was walking on the backs of his hocks and his feet were literally jacked out from under him every time he tried to take a step!! Well, i tossed my saddle on and rode over there with Emilee to look at him, and my mom was right. Only worse...

The horse (which we dicovered was a mare) who looked to be about 16-18 years old. Her teeth were literally rotted down to the gums and she was thin, i could count every rib on her sides!!

We couldn't just walk away now that we had seen her so it was decided that me and Emilee would ride our horses to the neighbors farm and ask about her, and see if they were aware of her condition.

We had to go across their cow pasture, otherwise it would be about a ten mile round trip to on the road and down his mile long driveway. We had a time of it riding the horses through the herd of cows. I swear that there was a bull in there just waiting to gore me to death for trespassing through his private herd of bovines. We even had to jump the horses over a 6 ' creek and my horse Gunner almost landed on top of me knocked me to the ground! Well, we did manage to get there all in one piece, that alone was a miracle! But we did get there. We tied our trusty horses to a rickity ole gate and went the rest of the way on foot, and all the way i was praying someone was home and would care enough to do somthing for this poor mare. I knocked on the door and a lady answered. We explained we had seen the mare next door and were wondering if they were aware her feet were in need of a trimming. She chuckled and all she said was "Larry knows...". Thats all she said. My sister then asked if we could talk to 'Larry', and she said she would get him. A minute later he came out, and we asked again if he was aware his mare was in need of a trip to a farrier. He looked at us as if we had two heads! He said "..she ain't no good for nothing anyhow"! Good for nothing! How could he even say that!! This horse that was suffering and could hardly stand on her own feet with out colapsing! And all he did was laugh and say she was good for nothing anymore? I wanted to scream in his face! It was all i could do to stand there quiet and let my sister ask about her condition and if she has had any treatment for her lameness. We asked a few more questions about her and came up with nothing but a bunch of crap about her hooves not being the bother but she was lame to begin with and she wasn't any good anymore and not to worry. He said he had had her in the barn all winter, which explained why this was the first time we had ever seen her before now. He didn't have anything to say about her care except she was once a good riding horse but she was now too lame to be any good to anyone. We were obviosly getting nowhere with this old coger so we had to think fast. I did the only thing that made sense to me, which was the first thing that poped onto my head, i asked if he would sell. He asked what we could possibly want with her since she couldn't be ridden anymore and was blind in one eye anyways. Emilee explained we would gladly give her a good home, and since we have kids here they would love to have her around to be a pet if he would be willing to let her go. I offered him $200 cash and he said....he would take it!!! I wanted to scream again!! Only this time it was because i was so happy she would no longer be suffering there. Emilee told him we would be back with the pickup and our trailer the next day anyways so she asked if he would be home then so we could come and get her. He said he would be home from work at 5 so we could come back then if we really wanted the old horse. We assured him we did, so after thanking him for his time, we told him we would be back the next day to get her. We walked back to where our horses were tied and rode back to our side of the fence. Mom and dad were waiting and we told them what had happened and they were so happy we had been able to purchase her. We are heading back there tonight now, with our trailer in tow to bring our baby home and hopefully help her to start a new life here. We are still trying to fill in details, making some calls and try to get our farrier to come out here tonight or tomorrow, and things like that. PLEASE PLEASE pray that all will go well and that by tonight we will have her home safe and sound. And pray we can get a hold of our farrier so she can be bit more comfy on her feet as soon as possible. We are hoping and praying for the best and all will go smoothly.

I promise to keep you updated as soon as i know more, and again please keep her in your prayers as it very well could be a long and painful road to recovery.

Happy trails and God Bless you all!

Good morning! I woke up this morning and the sun was shining, the sky is clear and not a cloud in the sky! It looks like its going to be really nice out today. A little later i'm either gonna go down to the pasture and ride my filly Ruby, who really needs work right now after a winter of running with the bigger horses in the pasture. Yeah, that could get a little interesting...hmmm..:)

Or...I'm going to go down to Marion and pick me up a new saddle from the tack store down there. Either way it should be a good saturday.

Yesterday, me,and my sister Emilee, and Colt went to sparta because my brother had practice to be at by 8:00am. So we loaded up and set out. well, me and emilee had nothing to do while we waited for him to get done, so we went to the farm and ranch store, looked around there for a while, didn't buy anything but just walked around and tryed on some cowboy hats. Found one i liked but it was really expencive, because it was a Stetson. So...didn't buy anything. We went over to the resale store but they didn't open intil 10, so we went to wal*mart to pass the time until they opened. its crazy, you either get to a store and its about to close on you, OR, you get to the store and they ain't even OPENED yet! ya just can't win can ya? Well, we finnished at the Wal*Mart, and drover across the road to the resale store. They were just unlocking whe we drove up and there were about 5 other people there already waitin gat the door for the lady to open. At first i thought that was wierd, but then i saw a sign on the front door that said '25 cent sale day'! Everything was only a

quarter! How cool is that?? So in we went, to go bury ourselves in rack opon rack of clothing and such. I found about 3 shirts there for summer, and then i found a dark forrest green prom dress marked $125! I liked the dress, which for me is a HUGE thing cause i NEVER wear dresses or skirts or nothing like that because i just can't stand 'em. So i took the dress up with me when i went up to pay and asked the lady at the desk if the dress was part of the sale or not and she said it was! only 25 cents! For this nice prom dress!

The dress looks like its brand new! So for a buck fifty i got 3 tops, a leather belt, and the dress! Ya can't beat that anywhere. My sister found one too, hers is like a dark cranberry color, and she got one that has some more on the shoulders.*lol* its nice. One of these days we are going to don our duds (prom dresses:) and go take pictures with the horses! my skirt on my dress isn't very wide at the bottom but i can sit side saddle i guess. Thats the only reason i got it is to take pictures, since it was only a quarter!

well, i better run, y'all have a yourselves a great Saturday!!

Happy Tuesday! I like Tuesdays, beacause it means that Monday won't come around for another 6 whole days! :)

Yesterday i went trail riding with my sister. We rode for i think like two and a half hours (not including tacking up and trying to get my sisters horse over the creek..*lol* yeah Emilee- we had fun didn't we!haha!!!) When i woke up this morning, i was pretty sore, not because i haven't been riding, because i have been, but because we had to haul a ton of rocks to mark out a new corral. I could have put it closer to the rock pile i suppose, but i really liked this other place, because it has some shade in one corner and its pretty level already. its about a 1/4 mile from the barn, so its really quiet and secluded. Its not nearly finnished yet, we haven't put posts up,or nothin', just laid rocks for post-markers. Cant wait until its done.
Lets see, what else did we do. Oh yes, My sisters horse and the creek it was so funny! We were riding along and we came to a creek. yes, a creek. a little bitty trickle of water no bigger than a foot and a half across. Just running quietly down the rocks, not even rocks,...pebbles! Yes, a 2 foot wide stream trickling over a dozen little pebbles. And all of a sudden, my sisters horse spots this here little itty bitty stream running over pebbles, and she plants her feet down and stops faster than...well..i don't know what..but i'm telling ya after she spotted the stream, you couldn't get that horse to move it you were pushing her with a bull dozer! No kidding! We tried ever trick in the book. Emilee even got down and tried to lead her across. But nuthin, zilch, nadda. That horse simply wasn't gonna get her feet wet if she had say in the matter. And hour of our riding time, and much blood, sweat and tears later, she crossed the stream, all 2 feet of the trickling, itty bitty, pebble bottomed stream. (j/k...there was no blood envolved here-just thought i would clear that up:)
All it took was a little crowding of her space. thats all it took! Imagine, crowd a 1'200 pound horse after an hour of pulling, and wala! Over the stream she goes. What we ended up doing is i rode my horse behind and just to the side of my sisters horse, and then i would turn my horses shoulder into her butt, And let him walk into her hip, which in turn made her want to move foward. So after only about 2 sessions of this 'turn-my-horse-and-ride-into-her-horse's-hip' she decided that it would indeed, be more nicer on the other side of this here monster of water rolling over rocks, over she went, with a little hop and swish of her pretty little tail she was over, safe and sound, on the other side. And we finnished our ride with no further such..ah..incedent.
Well, every good thing must come to an end, so thats how this tale ends today. They usually always have a happy ending:)

Earthquake!

Right now i'm thinking to my self Earthquakes?? in Illinios?? but its true, early this morning an earthquake rattled the house at about 4:30am! I'm embarrassed to say i slept like a rock and didn't even feel a bump, but my dad woke up instantly and ran to check on everybody and wonder what the heck was going on! when i got up this morning everybody was talking about it and watching the news and everything! I was really bummed that i was the only one in the house who slept through it. And i was thinking all morning how awsome it would have been to be able to be awake and actually feel the Earth shake!! Well...I got my wish-Less than 10 minutes ago i was standing in the kitchen doorway talking to mom and my sister when i heard rattling and then started to feel the whole house shake! the ceiling fan was shaking really hard and the phone one the wall even rattled in its stand! At first i wasn't sure what was happening and just stood there, but then when mom stopped talking and looked up really fast i knew what it was. It only lasted maybe 5 seconds this time but it was a strange feeling i had afterwards. After it was over we started talking about how in the Bible it talks about how in the End, Earthquakes and disasters will shake the Earth, and Mom said that these earthquakes are a sign of the End times, and that soon, Jesus will be coming. Then i had a thought, if this is happening now, what is next? What will happen before God returns? All i know is that it's comming, and by the way our country is going, its gonna be soon. Mark 13:8 reads "Nation shall rise againts nation and kingdom against kingdom..." Think about it, America is in the middle of war trying to bring world peace. And the verse goes on to say "There shall be earthquakes in divers places.....these are the beginings of sorrows and troubles." There is more to come, and that is a scary thought. very scary. But we as christians have to be ready for the return of God,whenever that is, either a minute from now or 5 years from now, we need to be ready for Him.

Spring!!!!

Howdy! Been a while hasn't it? Been busy busy busy here. My grama and grampa are visiting us for the week,So I last week the house got treated to a spring cleaning! Whew! was that ever a job! but it needed to be done and everything looks so fresh and clean now. its nice actually! You can just smell that spring air a'coming in! I love it! All the flowers are in full bloom and they yard is full of them. The apple trees have all blossomed too. Some of my most favorate things about spring is all of the flowers! They are such a joy to me,all of the colors and smells just lift my spirits and chase out all that ol' Winter Blues. Another thing is the new life simply everywhere! i am such a sucker when it comes to baby animals. Puppies, kid goats, colts and calves,i love 'em all! Green!....i love all the greeness coming up everywhere at this time of year. Green,Green everywhere, on the trees and on my knees! (Lol, thats what my lol brother says anyways...:)

yeah so anyways we've been having such a blast with my grandfolks! They live in Colorado so we only see them about once a year. We're going to Giant City Lodge on Thursday and the Baldknob cross tomorrow i think. They also got to be here for my brother Levis birthday last Friday.

Ok, i can't leave without putting at least on picture of a spring flower up...

I LOVE SPRING! Its as simple as that! :)

I took this shot of the boys last week when the weather started turning warmer and i could sweet talk my brothers into letting me photograph pictures of them for one afternoon.

Don't those grins on their faces just melt your heart!?!?

Happy trails and God Bless!

Do any of you guys know how? If ya do i would really appreciate some help.

oh for the days of sunshine and summertime

sighs....i wish summer would just hurry and get here and quit dragging its dog-gone feet. Will the rain never stop?? no, it wont. i can see my Gunner out the window right now lookin south at the storm across the pond. he keeps stopping and just staring every few minutes then charging as fast as his out of shape self can carry him up the hill to the barn. I think its going to rain again. what a monday...
One thing i do enjoy tho is watching a good storm blow roll in. My favorate spot to do that is up ontop of the hill overlooking the north valley in the East pasture where our horse are out to pasture right now. Its a 15 minute drive from the house, so the only time i get to watch a storm is when i'm already down there and a storm decides its high time to roll on in and force us to quit on the fences. But i've no such luck today. fences are finished and the sky is just one big mono-tone,colorless blah. How depressing is that!?
Today mom had to go to the dentist to get some work done. My sister was supposed to go with to watch the twins while she was in, but she woke up sick and said she couldn't go. SoO...you guessed it right.... i go in her 'stead. For some unexplainable reason, when the twins are crying they just dont seem stop crying when i pick them up. so for that reason i hesitate 'baby-siittin' when mom or Emilee arn't around. They were good tho and only fussed a little while mom was in having work done. So for that i can't complain.
Seeing as i have nothing better to do than ramble on so i'll close now.
Blessing to y'all on this Monday~

Passing through the storms if this life

Muscle is built by resistance, Patience is produced by painful endurance. And Character is cultivated when circumstances bring dissappointment.
~James Perserverance

This little saying is hanging above the sink on the window sill in my kitchen, and i read it while i'm doing dishes, cooking meals or simply walking by. I think that my own mama set it there for a daily reminder, and i think it has something in it for all of us..It is such a beautiful reminder that God brings us through hard and sometimes very difficult situations, only to mold us into a man or woman if true character. Nothing happens that He is not aware of or in complete and total control of. He knows it's only for a season and that when the time is right, we will emerge from the 'rain storm' shining with true character and with a brand new beautiful set of wings to fly out into a world of darkness and be an example of His mercy to a world that is struggling to find the Truth! True inner strenth is brought about by going through many, many trials and hard times. But my friend, believe me, i have had to pass through some very hard 'stormy' days, and you know what? it's alright because i know, I know there is one who loves me more than anyone else loves me! He knows what I need to endure, to make me into a woman of true virtue and strong character. He knows that the only way is by going through the rainy times. And its alright! Trust the Maker and he will keep you from falling away. Even in the stormy times, keep your focus on the maker. Remember, you are still right there in the palm of His hand. Its all a part of the Big Plan God has for each and every one of us! So friends, if you are struggling in trusting God, just remember He is right there along side of you even now, cheering you on to the goal! Don't give up courage, but lets press on togther in the name of Jesus! And rise up as a generation, an Army of the Lord, proudly bearing the shining muscle and strenth as well as the scars that show we have passed through a storm that has tested our true Character. Keep pressing on until the day when we will me our Maker in the skies and live forever in the Mansion filled with the Light and the Glory of God!

So i tried my hand at making chicken and dumplings....

Ahhh...yes. I thought you might like to to hear about my experience making supper Friday night.
"Please no!" you might say...."Don't you have anything more interesting to blog about?"....no indeed... i do not. :) it isn't all that bad i guess but was one of those times when it seemed worse at the time and now i look back and laugh at my lack of...ahhh self confidince.
so why dont y0u just sit back and enjoy hearing about my sorry supper attempts.
So the other day mom asks me, "Hey, how about you make supper sometime this week." Ok, before i go any further i first have to say that i get up at 6:00am to make breakfast every single morning of every single day for 5 brothers with appetites the size of Texas!!!! Not to mention my Dad, mom and sister besides. My sister, who normally cooks supper, i might add is away for the week so that leaves me with her share of house work, which normally isn't so bad i mean c'mon! i can do this!
Ok, this shouldn't be too hard i think. So i had to first figure out what to make, something that will feed 9. I came up with chicken and dumplings. that sounded easy enough and besides, it would feed a whole herd of boys too...and i have made them before! Soo..Whala! Mom said she wanted me to makeit on friday night, so i wanted to get an early start so it would be sure to be ready on time so i fix up the chicken and get it boiled and cleaned. Ick. then i boil back the broth to cook dumplings. Next i mix up the dough. i have to mention here that the recipie we usually use got left out on the window sill last summer and faded so bad it is almost completly illedgeable and i just had to guess at some of the measurments or ask mom what it had said there.
The first batch i did SOMETHING wrong. I'm still not sure what but mom was in the other room so when ever i had a question i had to run back and forth between her and the boiling pot of chicken broth. by the time i got them things cooked up andstrained them out of the broth they had turned into one big pile of grayish white paste. It was so nasty! i won't even put on a picture of them.it was terrible! I was not about to feed my family that for supper because...well...i would never hear the end of it.
SoOo...feeling like some kid who did somthing bad and had to hide before anyone else might see it, i ran the bowl out to the barn and dumped it. imagine that...the dogs even turned their noses up at my dumplings....well its not like i blame them, those were the most sorry looking excuse for dumplings i have ever seen.

i started mixing up the next batch, then i rolled out the dough and cut it into squares.

i made a double batch of dumplings this time so i had to cook them in 4 separate batches.and what do ya know, they even were nice and fluffy when they were all cooked up. then i added that chicken i cleaned earlier and let it simmer together for a bit. when it was all said and done the whole thing from start to finish took from 1 o'clock in the afternoon until right before 6.
The finished product of my hard work...

And there you have it, in the end they turned out alright i suppose, everyone said they liked them. All i could think of though was for a 5 hour pot of hard work, they better be good! But i'm afraid it will be some time before i try it again :)

happy belated Valentines day!

Hope everyone had a nice Valentines Day!
Since i'm only just now getting around to posting about it, I'll just tell you about my Valentines Day. Actually i celebrated my actual 'Valentines Day' on Tuesday, since i had to work Thursday,Feb.14th.
A lady we know puts on a lunch for widows on or around Valentines Day and me and my sisters alway go and help her put it on every year.It is usually really nice and alot of ladies show up for it and its just really nice. This year there were about 15 ladies that came, some of them i knew from other years when they have come. There were about 6 of us girls this year who serve the lunch to the ladies, and basicly what we do is cater the entire 5 course meal, searving each course,(salad, bread, dessert, etc) and then sitting at a different table each course and visit with the widows at each table. So anyways it was really nice this year. I sat with my friend Kelsie for the first part of the lucheon and then Hannah and Kelsie when we sat at a table with the ladies. Then we did this thing where we each read a part about what makes a Valentine special and a bible verse that went with it. Then each of the widows talked about their husbands and wedding and it was nice.
Then we cleaned everything up and washed up the dishes after they left, then we went home. No, actually we went to walmart while mom did her shopping then we went home.
I forgot what i did after i got home. Oh well...
So anyways that was how my V-day went which actually wasn't on the 14th, it was the 21st.
I hope you had a great Valentines, however you spent it.
I have to go get somethin ordered so i'll let cha go. later gater!

my week...so far

Good glory, life has been such a drain lately. Everyone is so busy running around doing this or that. heres what i've been up to the last few days.
Saturday i went sleding, yes i did,and nearly FROZE! it was a blast tho, Dad,me,colt, bret, titus, seth, levi and becca, all went. the snow was just a bit slushy due to the sun melting it a little, but there was enough for sledding. the hill we go on is sooo steep it is downright dangerous! my bones are still screaming there protest at me when ever i bend over, and honestly i'm not one to be a wimp at physical activity but crashing over a hill more off the dang sled than on gave me my share of bumps and bruises. ok, moving on. sunday was up before 5am, fed the animals and was out of the house by 8:40 somthing for church, which of course automaticaly makes us late. we drive 50 miles to church every sunday, with the service starting at 9:30. well we always have to stop for gas on the way there which took about 10 minutes. so we walk in to church just as its starting, find a pew and get seated. The sermon was really good, it was about Job, when all these bad things happen to him, then when his wife tells him to just curse God and die, and he doesn't do it. I was going to go home and read the rest of the story but i didn't get a chance to. I'll probably do it tonight before bed.
We had to leave right after church ended so we could get home, eat lunch, so mom, Emilee, and Becca could go to somthing at 2. I didn't want to go, so that left me home with dad and my brothers, and the superbowl.fun....not. we only get in one channel on tv most of the time so dad and Colt spent the afternoon trying to get the channel to work for the superbowl. they finally got it to come in, with some time to spare before it came on. football isn't really my thing so i didn't really care. i slept on the couch listing to them talk wires and cables and antena and all that stuff. They only watched a little bit of the superbowl anyways. then i watched a jane Austin movie that was on called 'Jane Austin Regrets'. it was ok, not my favorate, but it was ok. Pride and Prejuduce is on next week. yesterday, monday, it was a whoppin' 70 degrees out! whooo-hooo! that felt nice, let me tell ya! after lunch i attepted to take my usual afternoon walk but it was SoO muddy my feet felt like led weights afteri was only a little ways, so me and my sista went to town. we parked at the fairgrounds and let the dogs out, we walked from the fairgrounds to the hardware store across town and back again. then we walked all the way around the perimiter of the fairgrounds. it was like 2 and a half hours of walking which was pretty nice. i don't get to walk in town all that often so it was nice. i like to walk. the dogs were super hyper and beeing typical country dogs they had to sniff (and scratch) everything and everyone they passed on the sidewalk, then you get a ton of people who are driving down the road and stare at the 2 huge hyper golden retriever dogs walking (or maybe they were walking us-idk:) down the sidewalk. fun fun!
today, tuesday, it has rained like crazy all day. it stopped now and the sun is coming tru some dark rain clouds (that would make an awsome picture) and the air smells so clean and fresh after the rain. i think i'll brave the mud when i'm done here and go walk or run or ride or...something.
Tomarra one of moms friends is coming over for the morning to do,i dont really know whatever moms like to do.
Thursday, we go meet a plane in St. Louis and pick up my grama who's flying in from Colorado. Yay! we havn't seen her or grampa for over a year when we last went out to visit them. we only get to see grama tho, grampa is staying in CO cause of work.
Friday,my aunt, uncle and cousins are coming over, 1 of those cousins o have only seen once in all her short little life. David is the oldest, then Steph,Sarah and Hannah. they will stay for moms and the twins baby-shower Saturday and leave on Sunday. so we'll only have 1 day to see them. My grama will be here until Tuesday before she has to catch her flight back home to Colorado.
Saturday, i have to get up sorta early and get ready for the shower, and leave here by 10:30am. have a lunch deal at the church, see some friends, and then come back home.
Then...well Sunday again, and that's my week.
I am seriosly getting a crink in my neck so i'll let you go back to whatever you were doing. This has probably been a most boring waste of your time so until next time....ADIOS!

it' snowing...again!

...Brrrr!!! it is FREEZZING outside! snow is coming down pretty hard and the ground is already covered! sheesh...Me thinks i will go to the Bahamas or...Hawaii!!! i don't like the cold, never did exactly like the process of freezing your limbs off while breaking up ice in the horse's water tank.
Its so boring inside, i want to be OUT! My dad's got to drive home from Kentucky today while the roads are real bad. Earlier this afternoon there already was a bad wreck out on the highway. A semi truck heading out on the highway hit a car. It was a mess out there when i was outside a couple of hours ago. Police,Ambulance,Firetrucks and traffic is piled up for miles. I don't think anyone was hurt but its just a mess out there.
Thats about the only thing exciting that has happend today. I'm home babysitting my 3 little brothers while moms at the Chiropracter (or however you spell it!:P) thats been...uh...interesting. There outside in the snow right now, except Levi is in here with me.I feel kinda bad for sending them out in the cold but they were begining to rub my hair the wrong way.
Bret,(9) "can i watch another movie?"
Me, "naw, you just finished watching two movies. go find something productive to do for a change.
Bret,"there's nothin to do!"
Me,"Good grief, can't you think of anything? go play legos or draw a picture are anything??"
Bret,"don't wanna do any of that"
Me,"do it anyways, no movies right now!"
Bret,"good grief yourself! your so boring when you're babysittin'!"*walks off*
Me,"right.....sorry if ya think that but, Sorry Charlie, go do SOMETHING!
Titus,(6)*walks up* "'something' isn't any fun anymore, you already had us do that today..."......... yea whatever.
SoOo out they go to play in the snow.
So its me and Levi. He isn't too fond of snow either.:P
the day has gone better after they got tired of running around and freezing their butts off out there. I have a feeling they will fing somthing to do now.
Well i better go check on them, don't want 'em to get into ant trouble. (now thats and odd thought Kailee! Like 3 boys would get into any trouble...HA! yea right.)

Lilliana and Shoshana pictures

I thought i'd put up a picture of the twins. Lilliana is on the left side and Shoshana is on the right. Sometimes when they'll lay side by side they will just stare at eachother. Nothin' like sisterly love *lol* Haven't figured out yet how to put up more than one picture at at time so I'll put more on someother time.

saturday mornings

i love lazy saturday mornings! i guess that i like them mostly because saturdays are the only days i usually ever get out and ride my horses. My week days are just so busy with working and house work that even a couple of extra minutes out feeding are a welcome break. Today the weather doesn't seem to be cooperating very well but i think that i'l brave the cold once again and go saddle up Gunner. I miss being able to ride everyday like i used to during the summer. Now school and everything elso takes up so much of my time. Its frusterating sometimes.

Anyways, lets see, what else is new here? oh yeah! i got myself a dog! we he really got me...He's a stray that i found when i was out feeding about a week and a half ago. He was outside when i walked out the back door, and just sorta followed me around while i was doing the chores. I hoped from the start that he would stick around, because i really liked him. We get a lot of strays around here but somthing about this little guy really got me. He's sort of a little dog with true 'puppy' dog eyes. I'm in love....

Dad is sorta skeptical about having another dog around since we already have 3 plus 7 pups. But i think he'll come around, well i hope so.:)

I named him Mutley since mom had a dog when she was a kid named Mutley and it was her favorate dog.

I put up a picture of him, he is so hard to take a good picture of because he wiggles so much and is always movin' around. He's such a hyper little guy!

Well i better wrap this post up so i can head on out and get that riding in this morning! Adios!

new baby sisters!

God has blessed me with two new little sisters! Yup, yesterday at 12:30 and 12:31 p.m. the doctors brought my twin sisters Lillianna and Shoshanna into the world! They weighed 7.4 lbs and 7.11 lbs and were 19 and 20 inches long. Lillianna has blond hair and chubby cheeks while her sister Shoshanna has darker skin and dark hair. I was so glad because i'm the only girl in the family that has had dark hair and now I finally have a sister who does too!!! She also has a birth mark, and so do I!
Mom is doing great too, and is just so thrilled about having two little girls again! We spent the afternoon in the hospital yesterday with them and my litle brother Levi wasn't sure what to think about it all! he's been the baby in the family for so long i think he was a little jeleous of all the attention everyone was giving them! well better run and get breakfast on for the kids. Blessin's!!!!
